Spin Mlynarik, My Vienna's owner, creator, and gelato-maker, is so consumed with the idea of replicating a true Viennese cafe in Beverly Hills that he has imported nearly everything—the espresso maker, gelato goblets, the Julius Meinl coffee, the teaspoons, himself—from the Old World. The menus look exactly as they would in Western Europe, full-color laminated books with highly stylized versions of elaborate ice cream creations. "The prices on our menus include tax, as they would in Austria," says Mlynarik, proudly. Mlynarik has partnered with chef Dadi Revivo to create Viennoiserie, buttery cakes, cookies, and chocolates to offer alongside the Austrian coffee drinks. The cafe isn't really open yet according to Mlynarik, "we were trying to soft-open, but then people just kept coming in so we served them." My Vienna hasn't turned any walk-ins away. While the staff is still learning how to make all of the sundaes and towering gelato creations, and trying to keep up with the line of sweet teeth, Mlynarik zips from training behind the counter to taking care of guests and friends at tables. He's looking forward to My Vienna's grand opening, which should happen in early July. Meanwhile, My Vienna will be officially soft-open this Wednesday. Initially, hours of operation will run from 11 a.m. until after dinner, but eventually My Vienna will also serve breakfast.
